This Week on SHIELD is a new weekly series where we highlight a few cool things that we’re currently enjoying or looking forward to on our SHIELD Android TV. Each week we’ll give a shout out to a new (or updated) app, or the one we’re currently rocking, games that we’re thrilled about and maybe a TV show and movie we’re excited to watch or currently have in our rotation. This week we’re highlighting Plex, one of the best cord-cutting apps currently available on SHIELD, Parallax, an exciting new puzzle game that fans of Portal will really love, the NCAA’s March Madness ...well...madness, and "Bling", an as yet unreleased animation film that is currently being offered for free via Google Play.
Of course, we also want to know what’s on YOUR SHIELD, so hit us up on Twitter with the hashtag #twos and let us know what you’re rocking this week and maybe we’ll show you some love the following week.
One of our favorite cord-cutting apps for NVIDIA SHIELD is Plex. While keeping things in the cloud has surely taken off, the fact remains that a lot of us still have terabytes of media content. From movies and music to TV shows and pictures, Plex for SHIELD Android TV lets you keep your content in one place while streaming it to any manner of data to pretty much any device imaginable.
The Indie hit Parallax is now available for SHIELD Android TV. Previously available only on PC, this first-person puzzle game is a sure-fire hit for Portal fans – or anyone that likes games that challenge their brain power. Developed by two-man studio Toasty Games, Parallax embodies what good Indie games are all about: passion and uniqueness. Truly the only Android games that you can even remotely compare it to is the aforementioned Portal from Valve Software and Demruth’s Antichamber, and that alone is enough to warrant a closer look.
Selection Sunday is the day when the NCAA men's and women's basketball committees determine which teams have made the field for this year's basketball championships. Selection Sunday in 2016 will be on Sunday, March 13. While the show will be televised on NCAA.com and CBS All Access and CBS Sports starting at 5:30 p.m. ET, the best way to consume all of the NCAA action is with the official NCAA March Madness app for your Android mobile device that also lets you cast every March Madness game from your mobile device to your SHIELD.
Google Play is offering the animated film "Bling" to viewers at no charge. The film, from Momentum Pictures, has not yet been released to theaters but is available on Google Play for a limited time. "Bling" was directed by Kyung Ho Lee (Garfield Gets Real) and Wonjae Lee and and stars Taylor Kitsch, Carla Gugino, and Tom Green about a working mechanic named Sam and his childhood sweetheart named Sue who must save their city. The film is rated PG for action, mayhem and rude humor.
If you don’t already own an NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV, run out and grab one today. And while you’re at it, make sure to talk to us on Twitter about your week, we might just quote you in next week’s installment.
