This Week on SHIELD we’re showcasing the Android TV Remote Control app, Jotun, an action-adventure game that’s free for members on GeForce NOW, “Fear the Walking Dead” on AMC with SlingTV and “Jurassic World” that SHIELD users can stream on HBO NOW, HBO GO, and Google Play.
Of course, we also want to know what’s on YOUR SHIELD, so hit us up on Twitter with the hashtag #twos and let us know what you’re rocking this week and maybe we’ll show you some love the following week.
With the Android TV Remote Control app you can easily use your Android phone or tablet (we’re partial to the SHIELD tablet K1) as a remote for your SHIELD Android TV. While using voice search with your SHIELD remote to navigate around your SHIELD UI is nice and smooth, there will be times when you’ll have to use the virtual keyboard; and it’s these times when the Android TV Remote Control app comes in handy. With the Android TV Remote Control app SHIELD users can switch between d-pad and touchpad modes to navigate the UI or even play games, and simply tapping the mic on the app initiates a voice search. Setup is super-easy as all you need to do is ensure that your Android device and SHIELD Android TV are on the same wireless network. Also, for the sake of inclusion, Google has made the Android TV Remote Control app available for iOS devices as well.
The action-adventure game Jotun follows the epic tale of Viking shieldmaiden Thora, a Norse warrior who after suffering an inglorious death is denied entrance to Valhalla. Released this week on GeForce NOW, Jotun is free to members and it’ll be up to you to aid Thora in her bid to prove her worthiness to the Gods as she vies to gain entry to Valhalla and escape purgatory. Gameplay will pit Thora against against hordes of enemies from Norse mythology as well as epic bosses that scale to hundreds of times her size.
Season 2 of AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead” premiered on April 10th. So there’s time for you not only to catch up on Season 1, but you’ll be up to speed on Season 2 in no time. Essentially a prequel to AMC's wildly-popular "Walking Dead,” “Fear the Walking Dead” takes place in Los Angeles and follows the story of two families, the Clarks and Manawas as they grapple to understand a rather “strange flu” as well as the shocking disappearance of scores of people. “Fear the Walking Dead” is as raw and gritty as you’d expect and you can watch it on AMC with the SlingTV app on NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV.
The fourth film in the “Jurassic Park” series, “Jurassic World” is not only the name of the movie, but it’s also the name of a luxury resort off the coast of Costa Rica. Obviously the resort’s main attractions are a menagerie of genetically engineered dinosaurs including the massive, and unfortunately intelligent, Indominus rex. When the fictitious dinosaur escapes it sets off a chain reaction and one would expect all Hell breaks loose. With dinosaurs running amok all over the island it’s up to ex-soldier turned animal expert Chris Pratt to save the day. “Jurassic World” is currently streaming on HBO NOW ($15 / month) and HBO GO (Requires a subscription through a satellite or cable provider) as well as Google Play for $4.99.
