SHIELD Tablet Update Enhances Stability

By Patrick Shaw - Tue, Sep 2, 2014

NVIDIA is rolling out a brand new over-the-air (OTA) software update for its Tegra K1-armed SHIELD Tablet.

The NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet software upgrade 1.1 introduces a number of all-new enhancements primarily related to improving the device's overall stability and performance.

The full slate of improvements include better stability specifically for WiFi, SHIELD Hub, Gamestream as well optimized performance for the SHIELD Tablet camera and ShadowPlay functionality. The update also introduces the ability to toggle NVIDIA PRISM, a built-in feature that extends battery life by reducing backlight power consumption while enhancing pixel color.

Additional changes include localization improvements, audio optimizations and a variety of miscellaneous stability improvements.

If you own an NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, upgrade 1.1 should already be available on your device. You can access the update by going to Settings > About Tablet > System Updates > Check for Updates. The update is 84.10 MB and shouldn't take more than a few minutes to download with a strong Internet connection.

While the SHIELD Tablet launched only a month ago today, it is clear NVIDIA is committed to refining the SHIELD Tablet experience through post-launch software updates.
