Diluvion, an adventure game in which you explore a vast underwater world, is making its debut today on PC - and we’ve got it ready and waiting for you in the GeForce NOW store to play instantly on SHIELD.
Heavily inspired by Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and PC classics like Wing Commander, Diluvion puts you behind the helm of a submarine for some deep water exploration. Your goal: Discover humanity’s greatest secret.
Now through February 9, you can purchase the game for $16.99, which is a 15% savings off the regular price of $19.99. Your purchase includes unlimited streaming rights on SHIELD, and a digital download code for Steam that you can use to install a local copy of the game on PC.
Before we dive into more details on the game, let’s take a look at the reveal trailer.
As punishment for eons of greed and war, the Gods unleashed a Great Flood that forced humanity to find ways to survive in the oceans. Trapped beneath an unbreakable layer of ice, mankind finds ways to not only live - but flourish.
Centuries later, a complex, new civilization with distinct kingdoms has emerged in the depths - propelled not only by the will to live but also, the need to explore.
Like the first sailors that set out to discover new lands, a new breed of undersea explorer - the submarine captain - now charts the path to humanity’s future beneath the ice.
It is rumored that one benevolent God, taking pity on humanity for the plight exacted upon them by her peers, has hidden a “gift” within the deepest reaches of the sea. And, if some bold captain can manage to find it, they will discover humanity’s greatest secret - and perhaps, the key to a better future for all.
This rumor has propelled scores of new adventurers and treasure seekers - and yes, pirates - into the depths to seek fame and fortune by being the first to find the gift. Yet, so far, no one has returned from their quest.
By happenstance, you find yourself given the honor of commanding your first submarine and, with your brave crew, set course into the unknown. Can you beat the odds and do what no one else has done: Find the gift and return home safely?
The underwater world you set out to explore is rich in style, lore and hidden secrets to discover. There are three vast open-sea zones to explore, and each one has a distinct “personality” with it’s own backstory, factions and unique characters to interact with.
Your first goal will be to find items you can trade to upgrade your sub, which will enable you to journey further into the depths. There are nine submarines you can unlock, each one bringing new, valuable abilities - from more deadly cannon and torpedo types to new sonar abilities - to the task at hand. You can also recruit crew members with skillsets that best support your ship.Diluvion Offers Adventure, Combat and Role-playing Fun for Action Game Fans
Together with the crew you can assemble, these upgrades essentially will enable you to craft a vessel that best suits your play style. Do you want to prowl the depths unseen and avoid trouble as much as possible - you can focus on a stealth build. Do you prefer to blow things up first and ask questions later? Then a stronger, battleship-style build may be for you.
Whatever you choose, and wherever you go, you can count on pretty much one thing: Danger lurks at just about every turn. Not only does the ocean itself harbor plenty of nasty things that can end your journey in a heartbeat, but many of your rival captains will stop at nothing to prevent you from beating them to the prize. Expect frequent kill-or-be-killed encounters with other submarines, as well as various types of sea creatures that view your ship and crew as a tasty snack.
Exploration and combat occur within Diluvion’s richly detailed, 3D underwater environments, which you can use strategically to outwit your opponents. Sometimes, though, the best course of action might be a hasty retreat - survival is always your paramount concern.
Enemies are not the only thing that can bring you down, either. In addition to natural hazards, you’ll need to keep a close eye on vital resources such as food and oxygen reserves to keep your crew, and ship, in tip-top shape.
In addition to your sub, you’ll also have a home base that you can use to stockpile resources, house extra crew members and store all the loot you find during your travels. As you upgrade your base it will gain notoriety and attract new opportunities in the form of merchants that can offer you rare items or notorious sailors that can spill the beans on new areas to explore.
All interactions with characters at your base, crew members on your ship or forays into towns and cities are portrayed through innovative, hand-painted 2D graphics that provide some gritty contrast to the 3D world you explore with your sub.
