Dead Island Riptide Headlines a Trio of New Games Coming to NVIDIA SHIELD™

By Steve Klett - Tue, Mar 10, 2015

Zombie fever is at an all-time high with news of AMC greenlighting two seasons of a prequel series to the immensely popular The Walking Dead, which is now nearing the end of its sixth season. To celebrate, we’re making Dead Island Riptide available to play immediately on NVIDIA SHIELD. And that’s not all—Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will follow over the next two weeks!

Dead Island Riptide is the sequel to Dead Island and picks up the story right where you left off—with the four survivors getting dropped onto a military ship after escaping from their island prison. Naturally, our heroes are ship-wrecked and faced, once again, with an island that’s overrun with zombies. This time, new playable character and hand-to-hand combat expert, John Morgan, is along for the ride. Morgan provides a fresh brawling option to help get past new zombie types such as Drowners, Screamers, and Grenadiers. Can you survive another zombie infestation?

Then, on March 17, we’ll release Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams on SHIELD. As you might infer from the name alone, this is not your typical platformer. Giana and her sister Mara are trapped inside Giana’s dreamworld, which shifts between cute and cuddly and demonic and twisted at the touch of a button. Giana’s abilities change depending on which dreamworld she’s in, and it’s up to you to help her save her sister.

On March 24, we’ll shift gears once more with The Vanishing of Ethan Carter—a first-person mystery game that’s big on exploration. As occult-minded detective Paul Prospero you must unravel a network of clues to find and rescue Ethan Carter, a boy who has vanished in the wake of a gristly murder. To play Dead Island Riptide navigate to the GRID Games menu inside the SHIELD Hub app, select the game from the list of available titles, and start enjoying!

The GRID Games library now includes 41 games that you can play on-demand on your SHIELD device for free, and NVIDIA’s committed to adding new games every week. Use the hashtag #SHIELDTuesday on Twitter to stay up-to-date with new releases.
