The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies hits theaters this week and, to celebrate, we’re releasing a pair of Middle-earth themed games on #GRIDTuesday. LEGO The Hobbit and LEGO The Lord of the Rings are both available to play right now in the GRID Games library. So grab your SHIELD and start smashing Orcs—LEGO style!
In LEGO The Hobbit you’ll explore familiar locations from An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug including Bag End, The Misty Mountains, Mirkwood, Lake-Town, Dol Guldur, and The Lonely Mountain. You can play as any of the members of Thorin’s company—such as Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin, Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin, and Bombur—and switch between them to take advantage of each character’s unique, and often humorous, abilities to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Need a quick escape from danger? Use Bombur as a human trampoline to bounce the company to safety!
Once you’ve learned the true power of The One Ring, help the Fellowship destroy it in LEGO The Lord of the Rings. The game is based on Jackson’s motion picture trilogy and features voice-acting and music from the films. Explore the open world of Middle-earth and re-experience all the major battles from the movies as you discover and unlock more than 60 playable characters, including Frodo, Aragon, Gandalf, and more.
Note: Before you can play the new games you will need to update to the latest version of the SHIELD Hub app, which you can download for free in the Google Play Store by clicking the following link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nvidia.tegrazone3. Then, to access the games, just open the SHIELD Hub app, navigate to the GRID Games menu, and select the game you wish to play.
The addition of these titles expands the GRID library to 28 games valued at more than $500, which you can play on-demand on your SHIELD device for free. And NVIDIA’s committed to releasing new games every week on #GRIDTuesday—so mark your calendars!
GRID is an on-demand gaming service that streams a library of popular games to SHIELD devices in high definition, with fluid frame rates and low latency. GRID is like Netflix for games, and it’s available exclusively to SHIELD owners in North America and most of Western Europe for free though June 30, 2015. Coverage will be expanded to include Germany and the Asia Pacific Region next year.
