By Steve Klett - Sun, Jan 8, 2017

NVIDIA GeForce NOW members will soon be able to enjoy a Pascal-powered gaming experience, as well as the ability to play online multiplayer games like Paragon, on SHIELD TV.

Multiplayer support is just one of the many upgrades included in the next generation version of GeForce NOW, which was unveiled this week at the Consumer Electronics Show. Based on the newest family of NVIDIA GPUs, called Pascal, the new GeForce NOW supports the ability to stream online multiplayer games, as well as deliver an even snappier streaming experience.

GeForce NOW members have been asking for multiplayer games to play on SHIELD and we’ve been listening. We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be adding three amazing online games - Paragon, War Thunder - to our library!

We’ll be releasing these popular games to our members on SHIELD over the coming weeks. If you’ve already been playing these games on PC, you’ll be able to log into each on SHIELD and have the same access to in-game progress, purchases and achievements. Or you can start fresh on your SHIELD and play from the comfort of your living room couch!

These games will be streamed to you at the highest possible fidelity, thanks to a service-wide upgrade to new Pascal GPUs. With this upgrade, GeForce NOW transforms SHIELD into the most powerful gaming system for the living room.

So, limber up those thumbs to start battling online with, and against, your friends as we take a closer look at GeForce NOW’s upcoming online multiplayer titles.

Battle for Glory and Honor in Paragon’s Online Arena

Developed and published by Epic Games, Paragon is a third-person, “multiplayer online battle arena game” - otherwise known as a MOBA game since, well, saying all that’s a mouthful. The game pits two teams of five players against each other to fight for control of symmetrical maps with the ultimate goal of defeating all opposing players and/or destroying the enemy team’s base. The game is based on a free-to-play model, similar to other MOBAs.

Built with Unreal Engine 4, Paragon looks amazing and features fast combat that will challenge both your reflexes, and your tactical thinking. Map awareness and team support are paramount, and you’ll need to master your character’s strengths while doing your best to make up for its weaknesses.

Each player assumes control of one of several different “Heroes” that bring a unique set of abilities to the fray. “Grux”, for example, likes to smash enemies up-close-and- personal-like and is an offensive hero. “Muriel”, meanwhile, is defensive-minded and can aid her team with her Shield power. Each team has minions, which slowly march on the enemy’s base and support their heroes.

Simply put, Paragon is great fun and we’re proud to be able to offer it to our members soon on SHIELD!

Fight for your Life in the Online World War II Combat Sim War Thunder

War Thunder is a dramatic change of pace from Paragon, but that’s not to say it doesn’t bring more than its fair share of white-knuckle moments. This free-to-play, massively multiplayer online (MMO) combat sim puts you behind the controls of a variety of World War II- and Korean-era aircraft and tanks to fight to control a given map, or wipe out the opposition.

The game matches two teams of up to 16 players each with vehicles from a variety of different nations (and similar levels) to battle on any one of several randomly selected maps. As you play you earn experience that you can use to unlock more powerful upgrades for your plane, or tank, with the goal of unlocking higher tier machines that lead to more challenging combat.

The game offers three levels of realism that range from arcade mode to full simulation, so you’ll be able to find a battle that best suits your abilities. What will be your mount of choice: Spitfire or Messerschmitt, Tiger or Sherman? There are over 800 to choose from so take your time!
