Doom 3: BFG Edition recently launched as is available now to enjoy on NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV, but that’s certainly not the only exciting title to arrive on the platform. The lineup continues to expand, with Machinarium and Game of Thrones also available to enjoy this week.
In case you’re not familiar with the title, Machinarium is an adventure game from Amanita Design. Originally released on PC in 2009, the game puts players in charge of a robot who is trying to save his girlfriend from the nefarious Black Cap Brotherhood. That release currently enjoys an average Metascore of 85, after reviews from 47 critics are tallied.
From the sound of things, the newest edition compares favorably to the highly acclaimed prior editions, with Jakub Dvorsky (Amanita Design’s CEO) commenting that “NVIDIA SHIELD controller and the Tegra hardware enabled Machinarium Android game to be on par with its desktop and console versions.”
Meanwhile, Game of Thrones should require no introduction. It’s a six-part episodic series from Telltale Games and we’ve written frequently about the PC edition during the past few months.
The Game of Thrones story is still being told, with Episode 4: Sons of Winter just recently launching on a variety of platforms, including NVIDIA SHIELD itself. The remaining two episodes in the season should follow over the course of the next two months or so, assuming there are no delays, and will theoretically bring the intriguing story of House Forrester to a violent conclusion (or at least to a memorable cliffhanger). You can see what you think of it by purchasing individual episodes for $4.99 apiece, or you can opt instead for a season pass that offers over 15% in savings.
As a variety of experiences continue to reach NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV, it becomes increasingly clear that NVIDIA and its partners are ready to put in the effort that will ensure the device offers plenty of entertainment options to keep consumers busy for a long time to come.
