Last year Twitter launched the Twitter for Android TV app which is essentially a video portal and the Facebook for Android TV app works similarly. Currently available in the Android TV Play Store or in the Google Play Store on your SHIELD device, Facebook for Android TV is an easy way to watch videos in your feed. The videos in your feed are broken down into several categories: Suggested, Live, Topics, Games, Your Videos, and Search. In addition to simply watching videos, you can also bookmark, view, and send live emotes from within the app.
In addition to your feed, similar to how the Twitter for Android TV app broadcast Thursday Night Football games, Facebook for Android TV will broadcast Major League Baseball games. Facebook has also announced that the app will broadcast both eSports as well as game streaming.
Setting up the Facebook for Android TV is super-simple. SHIELD users can either install the app from the Google Play Store on device or from the Android TV Play Store. Once installed you’ll be presented with a code that requires you to fire up a Facebook-enabled device, I used a Windows-based browser, to activate Facebook on your SHIELD. Once installed, you're ready to start watching videos. You can even search for videos.
So there you have it. If you’re ready for an easy way to peruse your Facebook videos from the comfort of your couch, than the Facebook for Android TV on SHIELD can’t be beat. Of course, if you don’t already own an NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV, then what’s stopping you?! Run out and grab one today.
