When it comes to Android gaming, the fact remains that NVIDIA SHIELD stands alone in its performance compared to other Android devices. This is why we’re stoked to announce that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is now available exclusively for SHIELD Android TV. The third title in the highly-acclaimed Borderlands series of games, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (also called Borderlands: TPS) is often considered an interquel to the original Borderlands and Borderlands 2, and the fact that the game runs so well on SHIELD Android TV proves how amazing this unique gaming platform is.
Developed by the folks at 2K Australia and published by 2K Games, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel revolves around Handsome Jack, who ironically becomes the primary antagonist in Borderlands 2! Fans of the Borderlands series will no doubt recognize many of the familiar characters, locations and scenarios. Handsome Jack works for the Hyperion corporation and leads a ragtag band of up to four playable characters in an attempt to regain control of the company’s Helios space station after it’s captured by a military group called the Lost Legion.
The four playable characters in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel were all either NPCs (non-player characters) or bosses in the other Borderlands games.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a first-person shooter action game built with an updated version of the game engine used for Borderlands 2. Translation: It looks extraordinary when played on NVIDIA SHIELD. Not ones to rest on their laurels, the engine used in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel boasts additional features like new gameplay mechanics, low-gravity environments, and a bevy of new weapons, items and unique attacks.
One thing that we’ve learned with the current spate of “role-playing shooters” is that co-op gaming is super-popular. And such is the case with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Not only is this a compelling single-player game, but also you can now choose to fight alongside Handsome Jack as one of four new vault hunters with your buddies. Each of the game’s playable characters boast unique skill trees, action skills, and play styles. For instance, you can use Wilhelm the Enforcer’s “Air Power” action skill to summon powerful combat drones to aid the party in combat. Or, use Athena the Gladiator’s “Kinetic Aspis” action skill to absorb incoming damage and convert it into energy that can subsequently be unleashed on enemies. You can also choose to play as Nisha the Lawbringer (the future Sheriff of Lynchwood) and the most unpredictable character of all…Claptrap the Fragtrap!
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is currently available for SHIELD Android TV for $14.99. To play it, navigate to the Android games store on your SHIELD Android TV. If you don’t already own one, run out and buy an NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV today!
