We here at NVIDIA are super-excited to welcome the Amazon Video App to our ever-growing family of streaming options. With our latest update, the SHIELD Experience Upgrade 5.0.2, SHIELD continues its reign as one of the best cord-cutting devices available and now, with Amazon Video, it’s even better.
With Amazon Video, SHIELD owners can stream popular movies and TV shows including Amazon exclusives like “The Grand Tour” and “The Man in the High Castle.” Prime members in the US can sign-up for and stream videos from channel subscriptions including HBO, SHOWTIME, STARZ, and dozens more.
Amazon Video on SHIELD works in one of two ways. Pre-installed with the latest OTA, users can choose to buy or rent content a la carte, or join Prime Video and experience “unlimited access” to an ever-expanding catalog of movies, documentaries, and TV shows.
Once you register your SHIELD with Amazon you can easily navigate around and peruse the tens of thousands of available titles. Amazon Video does a great job of aggregating content from all over the Internet. With Amazon Video, users in the US can also access content from VOD services like HBO NOW, SHOWTIME, and STARZ.
Since Amazon Video works across devices, you can create your own watchlists from your PC and they’re automatically updated to the app on SHIELD.
Users are well aware that SHIELD boasts the fastest, smoothest 4K HDR video, and Amazon supports up to 4K (UHD) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) streaming. Because of this, movies and TV shows look unbelievably good. Amazon is currently rolling out content in UHD and HDR and many other titles are available in 1080p with support for 5.1 Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus audio.
With a whole host of high-end features and Amazon Video pre-installed, the Streamer for Gamers just got better. Of course, if you haven’t already picked one up, grab the new SHIELD TV today.
