During its Digital Days 2013 event in Paris on Tuesday, Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, a new standalone entry in its flagship historical-fiction-based action series being developed exclusively for "high-end" mobile devices.
Just like the forthcoming console-bound sequel Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the new mobile installment takes place around the late 17th century during “The Golden Age of Piracy.”
According to Ubisoft, certain events—and characters including the notorious Blackbeard—will appear in both games.
In Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, players are cast as series newcomer Alonzo Batilla, a pirate in search of legendary treasure in the Caribbean. Naval warfare and upgrading your pirate ship with superior firepower and defenses will also be heavily focused in the new game.
Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is slated to release on mobile devices this fall around the same time Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag launches on current and next-gen video game consoles. The PC version of Black Flag will releases shortly after that towards the end of 2013.
