The latest upgrade to Google Earth on Android is quite impressive. Now available on Google Play, the new Earth application allows you to virtually explore 3D recreations of a variety of iconic cities from around the world including San Francisco, Portland, Boston, and Rome.
Once you’ve installed the updated Google Earth app on your Android smartphone or tablet, you can “fly around” 3D versions of landmarks from numerous major cities by tapping on your device.
We’ve tested out the app, too, and it’s very much worth checking out. The app gives you information about historic sites in the city you’re touring such as Rome’s Roman Forum and San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. It's not exactly a free plane ticket, but the app is another good example of how Google is using technology to allow us to connect to the physical world in new ways.
